The Sidney Paul Gordon Shooting Range, a county-owned public outdoor facility managed by Otero County, offers supervised rifle, pistol, shotgun, and archery ranges, with rifle bays up to 400 yards. It features a cold range protocol with mandatory eye/ear protection and on-site Range Safety Officers, and is supported by the non-profit Friends of La Luz Range.
Eye and ear protection are mandatory at all times on the range for everyone, including observers, the moment you cross onto the property.
Firearms must be unloaded and actions open when not on the firing line, and when carried.
Keep muzzles pointed downrange at all times; breaking the 180-degree plane results in immediate match disqualification or expulsion from the public bays.
No tracer, incendiary, or armor-piercing ammunition is allowed.
