Target Shooting Quarry, also known as Beaver Dam Rock Pit, is a popular unmanaged, dispersed recreational shooting area located on public land within the Tillamook State Forest, managed by the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF). It offers free access for shooters to utilize natural rock walls as backstops, adhering to strict state forest regulations.

Know before you go

  • Target shooting is strictly limited to legal daylight hours, between 30 minutes before sunrise and 30 minutes after sunset.
  • You must use commercially manufactured non-exploding targets or paper targets you made yourself.
  • Exploding targets (e.g., Tannerite) are strictly prohibited.
  • A 'pack-in, pack-out' policy is enforced, requiring the mandatory removal of all shells, casings, targets, and any other debris you brought in.
